Ingredients
Scale
Puff Pastry Assembly
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 6 slices of deli turkey breast
- 4 slices of provolone or Swiss cheese
Spread
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Finishing
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 equal rectangles, which will serve as individual pockets.
- Make the Spread: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. This spread will add moisture and flavor inside the pockets.
- Assemble the Pockets: Spread a thin layer of the prepared mayo mixture over each puff pastry rectangle. Then place 1–2 slices of deli turkey and 1 slice of cheese on top of the spread.
- Seal the Pockets: Fold the pastry over to enclose the fillings, creating a pocket. Press the edges firmly and seal by crimping with a fork to prevent the filling from leaking out during baking.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pocket with the beaten egg to give them a shiny, golden crust after baking.
- Bake: Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the pockets to cool slightly before serving to enjoy the flavors and prevent burning your mouth.
Notes
- You can substitute puff pastry with crescent roll dough for a softer texture.
- Add spinach, tomato slices, or sautéed onions inside the pockets for extra flavor and nutrition.
