Description

This Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce is a tangy, smoky, and perfectly balanced condiment made without any added sugars. Using a blend of powdered monk fruit and allulose as sweeteners, it offers a guilt-free option for those looking to enjoy BBQ flavors while managing sugar intake. With a rich tomato base, smoky spices, and a touch of heat, this sauce is ideal for grilling, dipping, or as a marinade.

Ingredients

Scale

BBQ Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 ½ (6-oz) cans tomato paste
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend (or sweetener to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid hickory smoke
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
  • 1 ½ cups water (approximate, adjust as needed)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, gather all ingredients except water. Whisk them together to form a uniform mixture.
  2. Add Water: Gradually add water, starting with 1 cup. Continue whisking until the sauce has a consistency slightly thinner than your desired final thickness, as it will thicken during cooking.
  3. Bring to Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the sauce to a gentle boil while stirring frequently to prevent sticking or burning.
  4. Simmer: Reduce heat to medium-low and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes. Stir regularly during this time to ensure even cooking and to help the sauce thicken slightly.
  5. Adjust Flavor: Remove the sauce from heat. Taste and tweak the sweetness or heat level by adding more powdered sweetener or cayenne pepper as preferred.
  6. Thin the Sauce: If the BBQ sauce is too thick after simmering, add water one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

Notes

  • Use powdered monk fruit sweetener or a combination of monk fruit and allulose for the sugar-free aspect; adjust sweetness to taste.
  • Liquid hickory smoke adds a smoky depth; substitute with smoked paprika if unavailable.
  • Simmering time can be adjusted slightly to achieve preferred sauce thickness.
  • Store the BBQ sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Perfect for grilling, marinating, or as a dipping sauce.
