Description

This Mint-To-Be Protein Shake is a delightful and refreshing frozen treat made with yogurt, protein powder, and a hint of mint. Prepared using the Ninja Creami, this creamy shake combines the richness of 2% milk and full-fat Greek yogurt with natural sweetness from maple syrup. Perfect for a post-workout boost or a healthy dessert, it’s topped optionally with whipped cream and sprinkles for an extra touch of indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 240 ml (1 cup) 2% milk, divided, plus more for blending
  • 6 g gelatin
  • 35 ml (2 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 113 g (½ cup) full-fat plain skyr or Greek yogurt
  • 34 g (1 scoop) vanilla protein powder
  • ¼ tsp mint extract (not peppermint)
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Warm Milk and Dissolve Gelatin: In a small saucepan, gently warm half of the milk over low heat. Whisk in the gelatin until it is completely dissolved, ensuring there are no lumps.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Pour the gelatin mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container. Add the remaining milk, maple syrup, yogurt, vanilla protein powder, mint extract, kosher salt, and green food coloring if using.
  3. Blend Mixture: Blend all the ingredients together until the mixture is completely smooth, ensuring even distribution of flavor and texture.
  4. Freeze the Mixture: Place the pint container in the freezer and freeze for 24 hours to allow the mixture to firm up properly.
  5. Process in Ninja Creami: After freezing, process the pint using the “Lite Ice Cream” function on the Ninja Creami to achieve a creamy, shake-like consistency.
  6. Adjust Texture if Needed: If the texture is crumbly, add a splash of milk and re-spin the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Serve: Top the protein shake with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired, then serve immediately for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • Use gelatin, not agar-agar, to achieve the correct texture.
  • Do not substitute peppermint extract; use mint extract for authentic flavor.
  • The protein shake is best consumed immediately after processing for optimal creaminess.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup if preferred.
  • Green food coloring is optional and only for aesthetic purposes.
  • Extra milk can be used during mixing if the texture is too thick after initial blending.
