Description

Loaded Cheese Fries are a deliciously indulgent appetizer featuring crispy crinkle-cut fries topped with melted cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, crispy bacon, fresh green onions, and a dollop of creamy sour cream. Perfect for game day snacks or casual gatherings, this easy-to-make recipe combines savory and creamy flavors with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries and Cheese

  • 1 bag (28 oz) frozen crinkle-cut French fries
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Toppings

  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fries: Bake the frozen crinkle-cut French fries according to the package instructions until they are crispy and golden brown.
  2. Cook the bacon: While the fries are baking, place the bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until crispy, then transfer the bacon onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.
  3. Assemble the loaded fries: When the fries are done, transfer them to a large oven-safe dish or sheet pan. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the hot fries.
  4. Melt the cheese: Return the fries and cheese to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  5. Add toppings and season: Remove the dish from the oven and immediately top the cheesy fries with crumbled bacon, a drizzle of sour cream, sliced green onions, and fresh parsley if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately: Serve the loaded cheese fries hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Substitute sour cream with ranch dressing for a different creamy flavor.
  • Add sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and richer flavor.
