Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old)
- 200 g sliced beef or chicken
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons Japanese BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped scallions
- 1/2 cup chopped mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, peas)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Cook meat: Add the sliced beef or chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Cook vegetables and garlic: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and chopped mixed vegetables. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are tender.
- Scramble eggs: Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until fully cooked.
- Add rice: Add the cooked rice to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the vegetables and eggs.
- Return meat and add sauces: Return the cooked beef or chicken to the skillet. Pour in the Japanese BBQ sauce and soy sauce. Mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the sauce coats all the ingredients.
- Season: Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat through: Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle finely chopped scallions and toasted sesame seeds over the top before serving.
Notes
- Using day-old jasmine rice helps to prevent the fried rice from becoming mushy.
- Choose between beef or chicken based on your preference or dietary needs.
- Adjust the amount of Japanese BBQ sauce and soy sauce to taste for a milder or stronger flavor.
- Feel free to include other mixed vegetables like corn, green beans, or mushrooms.
- Ensure the skillet or wok is hot enough to properly stir-fry the ingredients.
- To make it vegetarian, omit the meat and add tofu or extra vegetables.
