Description

These Hot Italian Sub Sliders are a delicious, easy-to-make appetizer or meal featuring layers of provolone cheese, deli turkey, salami, and optional banana peppers on slider buns. Brushed with a flavorful mixture of melted butter, Italian dressing, garlic powder, herbs, and Parmesan cheese, then baked until golden and bubbly, these sliders are perfect for game days, parties, or quick family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 slider buns
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 8 slices deli turkey
  • 8 slices salami
  • ½ cup banana peppers (optional)

Topping Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 3 tablespoons Italian dressing
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Buns: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves evenly in a baking dish, creating a base for the sliders.
  2. Assemble the Sliders: Layer the slider bottoms with slices of provolone cheese, followed by deli turkey and salami. If you like a bit of tang and heat, add the optional banana peppers on top. Then place the top halves of the buns over the layered fillings.
  3. Make and Apply the Topping: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Italian dressing, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well to create a flavorful brush-on sauce. Generously brush this mixture over the tops of the assembled slider buns to infuse them with rich flavor and help achieve a golden crust.
  4. Bake the Sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil to keep the sliders moist and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is thoroughly melted.

Notes

  • For a spicier slider, add sliced jalapeños or substitute spicy salami.
  • Feel free to swap turkey with ham or roast beef for variation.
  • If banana peppers are not desired, you can omit or replace them with pickled peppers or olives.
  • Using freshly grated Parmesan cheese yields better flavor than pre-grated.
  • Make sure to cover with foil during the initial bake to avoid drying out the slider buns.
