Ingredients
Scale
Pork Chops and Seasoning
- 4 pork chops
- Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 1/2 cup butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Cheesy Potato Bake
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the potato dish and finishing the pork chops.
- Season Pork Chops: Season both sides of the pork chops generously with salt and pepper to enhance their flavor.
- Melt Butter: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of the butter to prepare for searing the pork and cooking the garlic.
- Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, releasing its aroma into the butter.
- Sear Pork Chops: Place the seasoned pork chops in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare Herb Butter Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup of butter with thyme, rosemary, and a pinch of salt and pepper. This will top the potatoes and infuse them with flavor.
- Layer Potatoes: Grease a baking dish and layer the thinly sliced potatoes evenly inside.
- Apply Herb Butter: Pour the butter and herb mixture over the potatoes, making sure the slices are well coated for rich flavor.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes, allowing the potatoes to soften.
- Add Cheese and Cream: Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan evenly over the potatoes, then pour heavy cream on top to make the bake creamy and cheesy.
- Top with Pork Chops: Place the seared pork chops on top of the cheesy potato bake to cook together.
- Bake Uncovered: Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 25-30 minutes until potatoes are tender and pork chops are fully cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from oven, serve the garlic butter pork chops with cheesy potato bake hot, and enjoy a comforting homemade meal.
Notes
- For best results, use medium-starch potatoes like Yukon Gold for a creamy texture in the bake.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half if you want a lighter dish, but the bake may be less rich.
- Make sure to slice the potatoes thinly and evenly so they cook through in the allocated baking time.
- Feel free to add other herbs like parsley or chives for additional flavor.
- Rest the pork chops a few minutes after cooking before serving to keep them juicy.
