Description

A delicious and indulgent twist on the classic chili cheese dog, this Fully Loaded Classic Chili Cheese Dog Casserole is a crowd-pleasing dish that’s perfect for a casual family dinner or a game day spread. Layers of sliced hot dogs, beef chili, cheddar cheese, and flavorful seasonings are baked together with crescent roll dough for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 8 beef hot dogs, sliced into thirds
  • 1 can (15 oz) beef chili with beans
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup diced white onion
  • ¼ cup sliced pickled jalapeños
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the base: Unroll the crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the dish, stretching it to cover the entire surface and slightly up the sides.
  3. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced hot dogs, chili, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, diced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  4. Assemble the casserole: Pour the mixture over the crescent dough and spread it evenly. Drizzle ketchup and mustard over the top. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese over the surface, then top with sliced jalapeños.
  5. Bake: Dot the top with butter and bake for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the casserole is bubbling.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute turkey or veggie dogs for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • For extra heat, add more jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the chili mixture.
