Description

This Creamy Avocado Grilled Cheese recipe combines the rich, buttery flavor of melted cheddar cheese with the fresh, creamy texture of mashed avocado for a delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich. Quick and easy to make, it’s perfect for a satisfying lunch or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Avocado Spread

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Gather Ingredients: Collect all ingredients needed for the sandwich including bread, cheddar cheese, butter, ripe avocado, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Prepare Avocado: Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a small bowl.
  3. Mash Avocado: Use a fork to mash the avocado until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add Lemon Juice: Mix in the lemon juice to the mashed avocado to add brightness and prevent browning.
  5. Season Avocado: Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to enhance the flavor.
  6. Heat Pan: Place a frying pan or griddle on medium heat to warm up.
  7. Butter Bread: Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  8. Assemble Sandwich: Place one bread slice butter-side down on the pan, add a slice of cheddar cheese, then top with the second bread slice, butter-side up.
  9. Cook First Side: Grill the sandwich for 3 to 4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Flip Sandwich: Carefully flip the sandwich with a spatula and cook the other side for another 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  11. Remove and Cool: Take the sandwich off the pan and let it cool for a minute or two to avoid burning from hot cheese.
  12. Add Avocado Spread: Slice the sandwich in half, spread the creamy mashed avocado generously on one half.
  13. Complete Sandwich: Place the other half on top with the avocado spread facing inward.
  14. Serve: Serve immediately while the sandwich is warm and the cheese is gooey.

  • Butter the bread evenly to ensure a crispy golden crust.
  • Adjust seasoning in avocado spread to taste.
  • Cook on medium heat to prevent burning while allowing cheese to melt properly.
  • Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
