Description

Crispy and flavorful Cheesy Beef Egg Rolls combine tender roast beef, creamy horseradish, and melted cheddar cheese wrapped in a golden, fried egg roll wrapper. This easy-to-make appetizer is perfect for gatherings and offers a satisfying blend of smoky, spicy, and cheesy tastes in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • 4 cheddar cheese sticks, cut in half (8 halves)
  • 2 cups cooked roast beef, chopped
  • 1/4 cup creamy style horseradish sauce
  • Frying oil (vegetable or canola oil recommended), enough for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat oil: Preheat a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan with oil to approximately 350°F (175°C) for frying the egg rolls.
  2. Prepare egg roll wrapper: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface in a diamond shape orientation.
  3. Add fillings: Place about 1 tablespoon of horseradish sauce in the center of the wrapper. Add 1/4 cup of chopped roast beef on top of the horseradish, then place one half of a cheddar cheese stick over the beef.
  4. Fold sides: Fold in the two side corners of the wrapper towards the center, covering the filling.
  5. Fold bottom point: Fold the bottom point of the wrapper upward over the filling, creating an envelope shape.
  6. Seal the wrapper: Moisten the top edge of the wrapper using your finger dipped in water, then tightly roll the wrapper from the bottom up to the top, sealing it completely and forming a cigar shape.
  7. Fry egg rolls: Carefully place the prepared egg rolls in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve: Serve hot as an appetizer or snack with optional dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature stays consistent at 350°F to achieve crispy and evenly cooked egg rolls.
  • You can substitute horseradish sauce with mustard or a spicy mayo if preferred.
  • Make sure the fillings are not too wet to prevent soggy wrappers.
  • For a milder flavor, use mild cheddar cheese instead of sharp.
  • These egg rolls are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
