Description

These Blueberry Swirl Rice Krispies Treats are a delightful twist on the classic marshmallow cereal treat, featuring sweet blueberry preserves swirled throughout for a burst of fruity flavor. Combining the crispy texture of Rice Krispies with a gooey marshmallow base and fresh blueberries for added freshness, this easy no-bake dessert is perfect for snacks, parties, or a fun treat any time of year.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Blueberry Swirl

  • 1/2 cup blueberry preserves or blueberry jam
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt (optional, for balance)
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (optional, for added texture)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth to form the marshmallow base.
  3. Combine Cereal: Remove the pot from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Heat Blueberry Preserves: In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat the blueberry preserves for 20-30 seconds until slightly thinner and easier to spread.
  5. Layer and Swirl – First Layer: Pour half of the Rice Krispies mixture into the prepared pan and gently press it down to form an even layer. Drizzle some of the warmed blueberry preserves over the top and swirl it into the mixture using a spoon or knife for a marbled effect.
  6. Layer and Swirl – Second Layer: Add the remaining Rice Krispies mixture on top, pressing gently to create a flat surface. Drizzle the remaining blueberry preserves over and swirl again. If using fresh blueberries, sprinkle them evenly on top for additional texture and flavor.
  7. Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until firm and set enough to cut.
  8. Serve: Once cooled, cut the treats into 12 squares and enjoy your colorful, fruity snack.

Notes

  • For best results, press the Rice Krispies mixture firmly into the pan to ensure the treats hold together well.
  • You can substitute blueberry preserves with any other fruit jam for a different flavor twist.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • Adding a pinch of salt balances the sweetness and enhances the overall flavor.
  • Fresh blueberries are optional but add a nice fresh burst of flavor and texture.
