Description

This Beef and Potato Skillet recipe is a hearty and satisfying one-pan meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. Tender ground beef, diced potatoes, and flavorful seasonings come together in a savory dish topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef and Potato Skillet:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 medium russet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil.
  2. Cook potatoes: Add diced potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes until they begin to soften and brown.
  3. Add beef: Push potatoes to one side and add ground beef. Cook until browned.
  4. Cook onions and garlic: Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  5. Season: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Simmer: Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  7. Add cheese: Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top, cover, and melt.
  8. Garnish and serve: Optional: garnish with chopped parsley before serving hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  • Yukon gold potatoes can be used instead of russet.
