Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 recipe pizza dough
- Olive oil
Toppings
- BBQ sauce (to taste)
- Cooked shredded chicken (approximately 2 cups)
- Red onion, sliced (1 medium)
- Bacon, cooked and crumbled (about 4-5 slices)
- 2 cups shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese (8 ounces total)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: Follow your pizza dough recipe directions to prepare the dough, ensuring it’s ready for shaping and baking.
- Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it’s sufficiently hot for baking the pizza crust to a crispy texture.
- Par-bake Dough: Lightly grease a pizza pan with olive oil. Pat the dough evenly into the pan. Drizzle olive oil over the dough surface and bake for 10 minutes to partially cook the crust.
- Add Toppings: Remove the par-baked crust from the oven. Spread BBQ sauce evenly over the surface according to your taste. Sprinkle 1½ cups of shredded cheese first, then add shredded chicken, sliced red onions, and crumbled bacon. Finish by sprinkling the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top.
- Bake Pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 15-17 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Once baked, slice the pizza and serve hot for the best taste experience.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked rotisserie chicken for shredded chicken to save time.
- Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce according to your preference for a milder or tangier flavor.
- For crispy crust, consider preheating the pizza pan in the oven before placing the dough on it.
- Use a mix of mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheese for a creamier melt and richer flavor.
- Ensure bacon is cooked until crisp before adding to the pizza to avoid sogginess.
