Description

A delicious BBQ Chicken Pizza featuring a crispy homemade crust topped with tangy BBQ sauce, shredded chicken, red onion, crispy bacon, and a blend of melted mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese. Perfect for a family meal or casual gathering, ready in just 45 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 recipe pizza dough
  • Olive oil

Toppings

  • BBQ sauce (to taste)
  • Cooked shredded chicken (approximately 2 cups)
  • Red onion, sliced (1 medium)
  • Bacon, cooked and crumbled (about 4-5 slices)
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese (8 ounces total)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Follow your pizza dough recipe directions to prepare the dough, ensuring it’s ready for shaping and baking.
  2. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it’s sufficiently hot for baking the pizza crust to a crispy texture.
  3. Par-bake Dough: Lightly grease a pizza pan with olive oil. Pat the dough evenly into the pan. Drizzle olive oil over the dough surface and bake for 10 minutes to partially cook the crust.
  4. Add Toppings: Remove the par-baked crust from the oven. Spread BBQ sauce evenly over the surface according to your taste. Sprinkle 1½ cups of shredded cheese first, then add shredded chicken, sliced red onions, and crumbled bacon. Finish by sprinkling the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top.
  5. Bake Pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 15-17 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Once baked, slice the pizza and serve hot for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute cooked rotisserie chicken for shredded chicken to save time.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce according to your preference for a milder or tangier flavor.
  • For crispy crust, consider preheating the pizza pan in the oven before placing the dough on it.
  • Use a mix of mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheese for a creamier melt and richer flavor.
  • Ensure bacon is cooked until crisp before adding to the pizza to avoid sogginess.
