Ingredients
Scale
Sausages
- 2-3 pounds kielbasa sausage
Sauce
- 2 cups BBQ sauce (recommended: Sweet Baby Ray’s)
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sausages.
- Slice Sausages: Slice the kielbasa sausages into 1/2-inch thick round pieces for even cooking and saucing.
- Mix Sauce: In a large bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, liquid smoke, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a flavorful marinade.
- Coat Sausages: Add the sliced sausages into the BBQ sauce mixture and toss thoroughly until each piece is evenly coated with the sauce.
- Prepare for Baking: Pour the coated sausages along with all the sauce into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the top to enhance caramelization.
- Bake and Broil: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and sticky and the sausages are heated through. Then broil on high for 2-3 minutes to develop caramelized, slightly charred edges.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the BBQ baked sausages hot for maximum flavor and enjoyment.
Notes
- Using Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce is recommended for the best flavor, but you can substitute with your favorite brand.
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar to modify sweetness and caramelization intensity.
- Keep an eye during broiling to avoid burning the sausages.
- These sausages can be served as an appetizer or as part of a main meal with sides like coleslaw or baked beans.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently for up to 3 days.
