Description

A delicious and easy BBQ Baked Sausages recipe featuring kielbasa sausage slices coated in a smoky, sweet BBQ sauce and baked to caramelized perfection. Perfect as a savory appetizer or main dish, this recipe combines classic barbecue flavors with simple preparation.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausages

  • 2-3 pounds kielbasa sausage

Sauce

  • 2 cups BBQ sauce (recommended: Sweet Baby Ray’s)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sausages.
  2. Slice Sausages: Slice the kielbasa sausages into 1/2-inch thick round pieces for even cooking and saucing.
  3. Mix Sauce: In a large bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, liquid smoke, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a flavorful marinade.
  4. Coat Sausages: Add the sliced sausages into the BBQ sauce mixture and toss thoroughly until each piece is evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Pour the coated sausages along with all the sauce into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the top to enhance caramelization.
  6. Bake and Broil: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and sticky and the sausages are heated through. Then broil on high for 2-3 minutes to develop caramelized, slightly charred edges.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the BBQ baked sausages hot for maximum flavor and enjoyment.

Notes

  • Using Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce is recommended for the best flavor, but you can substitute with your favorite brand.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar to modify sweetness and caramelization intensity.
  • Keep an eye during broiling to avoid burning the sausages.
  • These sausages can be served as an appetizer or as part of a main meal with sides like coleslaw or baked beans.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently for up to 3 days.
